The Cove is a 2009 documentary film that analyzes and questions Japan's dolphin hunting culture.
It was awarded the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 2010.

The Cove exposes the slaughter of more than 20.000 dolphins and porpoises off the coast of Japan every year, and how their meat, which containing toxic levels of mercury, is sold as food in Japan and other parts of Asia, often labeled as whale meat. The majority of the world is not aware this is happening.

Mercury in Seafood.

Eating fish can be healthy. However, not all fish are safe to eat.
Some contain mercury and other contaminants. Pollution from agricultural practices, and storm water runoff can all deposit harmful substances, like mercury, directly into the water. Fish can absorb these contaminants from the water and their food.
Health problems that may result from eating these contaminated fish range from small, hard-to-detect changes to birth defects and cancer.
